To celebrate the birthday of the founder of the Gursikh nation, 10,000 people is expected to gather in the city on Sunday

Sikhs from all over the world- India, Canada, America, France, Germany and the Philippines have already promised they will be in Coventry to take part in a procession around the Nanaksar Temple in Foleshill Road.

"This procession is in honour of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who was the 10th Sikh guru. But this year we are also remembering the birthday of Sant Baba Mihan Singh Ji, who was the founder of our temple, or gurdwara, here in Foleshill. He died in 1994 and we have not forgotten him or his teachings

Mr. Bhagwant Singh Pandher, One of the organisers of the event, said: "The focal point of the celebrations will be a spectacular and unique procession headed by a most lavishly decorated float - glittering like the Golden Temple - which contains a copy of our holy book, the Guru Granth Sahib.

"We are very pleased the Lord Mayor is going to join us on this occasion, as well as his deputy, Cllr Ram Lakha" said Mr Pandher.
