Our new study on the experiences of Sikh,  Jewish and Muslim found rampant physical and verbal harassment. Sikhs in the U.S. have faced suspicion and violence.

Sikhism was founded just over 500 years ago in the Punjab, India. There are more than 25 million Sikhs around the world, which makes  Sikhism the world’s 5th largest religion. Guru Nanak was first Guru of sikhs who preached the message of equality of all humans irrespective of their caste and creed.

During 17th Century when Hindustan was ruled by Mughals all the people were humiliated and were treated like animal. Guruji sacrificed his life for Protection of Hindu religion. Gobind Singh, the Tenth Guru of the Sikhs sought to eliminate social discriminations with the establishment of Brotherhood of Saint Soldiers to fight against tyranny and oppression.

 Sikhism preaches a message of devotion and remembrance of God at all times, truthful living, equality of mankind and denounces superstitions and blind rituals. Sikhism is open to all through the teachings of its 10 Gurus enshrined in the Sikh Holy Book and Living Guru, Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

NRI Sikhs have lived in the United States for more than a century. There is still widespread ignorance about the NRI Sikh community and its legacy.

  • Promote and participate in inter faith dialogue
  • Enhance the image and understanding of Sikhism throughout the World  through broadcasts on radio and television and articles in NRI Media
  • Establish links with like-minded organisations in India , USA, Canada and other centres of Sikh population
  • Train Minimum Five Press Reporters/ Video Press Executives in each NRI Populated City of the world and in major cities of Punjab

Our goal is working towards a world where Sikhs, and other religious minorities in America, may freely practice their faith without bias and discrimination.
