riots: Rs.168.32 crores grant
released for riot victims

The Pb.Government has released Rs. 178.94 crore for
providing Rehabilitation Grant to the Riot Victims
of 1984 and out of which Rs. 168.32 crore had already
been disbursed.
Punjab Chief Secretary K.R. Lakhanpal eas presiding
over a meeting of Commissioners and the Deputy Commissioner
of the State held here yesterday. He directed the
Deputy Commissioners to complete the verification
of all 4367 fresh claims of Riot Victims of 1984 for
rehabilitation grants by 31 st May, 2006 to enable
the state level committee to consider the verified
claims so that disbursement could be made to ensure
reimbursement from Government of India by June 30,
2006.
