Anaheim, CA – Former Anaheim Councilman Harry Sidhu has formed a 2014 Exploratory Campaign Committee for State Assembly District 68. “It has been a distinct privilege to have the support of the Indo-American community in my public service endeavors,” stated Sidhu. “Should the 68th Assembly District seat open, I would welcome the challenge and opportunity of serving in this great elected office through common sense leadership,” he explained. Sidhu has received local Republican support of this exploratory endeavor, given the potential that the State Assembly District 68 seat may soon be vacated.

Longtime Orange County business owner Sidhu served for eight years on the Anaheim City Council – comprised of two consecutive terms from 2004 through 2012. He is honored to have been the first person of Indian heritage to have achieved this position. Sidhu also served as Mayor Pro Tem in 2012 and from December 2009 through December 2011. He is currently appointed to the Orange County Water District Board of Directors to represent the City of Anaheim. Since January 2013, Sidhu has also been an Alternate Commissioner for the Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority.
As a businessman and public official, Sidhu cares deeply about his community and the people living in it. He is committed to encouraging a thriving business culture and economic development in the region that will create jobs, housing, and meet the needs of the taxpayers. His Anaheim City Council achievements included initiating a free annual health fair in the City, supporting a charter amendment which was placed on the November 2006 ballot to forever prohibit eminent domain abuse in the City of Anaheim, and implementing an annual Anaheim/OC Job Fair and Expo – which under his leadership guidance put over 1,700 back to work.

Sidhu immigrated to the United States from India with his parents in 1974, as a permanent resident, and settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he completed his education and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University. In 1979, he became a United States citizen and moved to California the following year, beginning his professional life as a consulting engineer in the aerospace defense industry. During that period, Sidhu also became a Licensed California Professional Engineer - Registered Mechanical Engineer, and obtained a General Contractor’s License (B). Additionally, he is a General Aviation Licensed Private Pilot and has been a Llicensed Real Estate Broker since 1991.
