Sidhu Builds Campaign Team for O.C. Supervisor Race

Anaheim, California, January 27, 2010
Tim Clark

(Anaheim, CA) – Today, Anaheim Mayor Pro Tem and prominent Orange County business leader Harry Sidhu announced that he has taken another major step forward in preparation for his Orange County 4th District Supervisor candidacy by bringing aboard GOP Consultant Tim Clark of Clark Davis Associates to manage strategy and voter contact, and longtime Orange County Consultant Scott Taylor to put together a comprehensive ground game.

Clark is a longtime Republican strategist who has been a part of electing numerous leaders from the Orange County area, including Orange County Supervisor John Moorlach, Assembly Members Van Tran and Chuck DeVore, in addition to many others. “Harry Sidhu has built a very strong reputation as a friend of small businesses and a taxpayer advocate,” said Clark. “I believe he is committed to victory in the 4th District Supervisor race, and we look forward to working with him.”

Taylor’s past clients have included Congressman Darrell Issa (R-Vista), Congressman Devin Nunes (R-Tulare), former Olympic Chairman and Major League Baseball Commissioner Peter Ueberroth. He has been involved in numerous local Orange County races including winning Orange City Council campaigns for Mayor Carolyn Cavecche and Councilmember Jon Dumitru.

“The competition will be spirited,” said Mayor Pro Tem Sidhu. “Yet, I am extremely optimistic that a winning team and coalition is being formed to make a difference by getting things done with the experience we need working for us.”

“I am seeking to serve through a regional leadership position on the Orange County Board of Supervisors,” continued Sidhu, “because the taxpayers need and deserve a strong, problem-solving voice on the Board from a representative who has reliable business understanding, as well as background experience in implementing innovative reforms, such as economic stimulus incentives, to effectively meet the challenges ahead. We must keep Orange County moving forward in a positive, economically diverse, and fiscally sound direction.”

Harry Sidhu was first elected to the Anaheim City Council in 2004 and was overwhelmingly re-elected to a second term in 2008. He was recently appointed Mayor Pro Tem. On the council, Harry quickly established a reputation as a tough-minded advocate for streamlined, efficient government and as a champion of small business.

In 2009, Harry introduced the Anaheim/OC Job Fair & Expo initiative as a timely and necessary means of providing job seekers with important employment opportunities. “It’s all about jobs creation – making the connection between employers and job seekers,” explained Mayor Pro Tem Sidhu. The inaugural initiative resulted in more than 102 employers and 7,500 job seekers participating - at no cost. Over 5,000 applications were submitted and 1,193 job interviews took place, with 505 or 42.3% hired - 1 out of every 4 interviews resulted in a job.

As a current member of the City of Anaheim Audit Committee, Harry has fought to eliminate excessive and wasteful government spending and save taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars, and he has focused on keeping fees low and managing costs as an Orange County Sanitation District Director. Harry has also worked to strengthen private property rights, including supporting a Charter Amendment that would ban abuses of eminent domain to take private property.

Additionally, Harry Sidhu has served as a Community Advisory Board Member for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Anaheim, Advisory Board Member for the Anaheim Family YMCA, American Cancer Society Anaheim Hills Relay for Life Board Member, Anaheim Chamber of Commerce and the Anaheim Small Business Chamber Member, Deputy Chairman of the Orange County Republican Party, coach for a local youth soccer club, and as a volunteer charity fundraiser and sponsor for a variety of children’s sports, arts, and education needs.
