Naresh Solanki  has announced he will run for a seat on the Cerritos City Council in the March election

On October 25, 2014, over 100 enthusiastic supporters came out to support Naresh Solanki for Cerritos City Council 2015. The campaign kickoff was co hosted by Cerritos Mayor Pro Tem, Carol Chen, Council members Bruce Barrows and George Ray at the home of Mr. Jiva Solanki, father of Naresh Solanki. 

"Naresh is my top choice for Cerritos City Council in 2015, " said Julie Knabe, a long time resident and key community leader in Cerritos.

" I am overwhelmed and thankful of the strong support for my candidacy shown today,” said Naresh.  “I promise you that I will be approachable and accessible to discuss your questions, concerns and needs and will always be the voice of common sense and reason for our great city.”

Three seats are open in the March 3rd city council election, with Bruce Barrows and Joseph Cho termed out.  

In 1981, Naresh Solanki came to USA at the age of 16, with dream of a better life. He was born in small town called (upleta ), India. He attended Polytechnic high school in Sun Valley, California and managed his  uncle’s grocery store on part time basis.

In 1987, he  purchased a small, run-down grocery store in Gardena, California with the help of his father and this store was on the brink of closure, but hard work and diligent effort that Naresh and his family were able to turn around and build a thriving, successful business.

Six year later, he opened another store in Compton, the success of  his business allowed him to open more stores. Over the years he  bought and sold 14 stores.  Now, he owned and operate 10 stores.

Naresh received several awards through nonprofit organization such as Lions club for Melvin Jones fellow Lions awards and Community service award from Rotary club.  He also received  some business awards from Earnest & Young for Business Leadership awards, Chambers of commerce Business Person Of the year’s awards and State assembly & senate for community service awards.  He is active members of Lions Club, Rotary Club and Optimist club.

He  is currently board member of Gardena Police Foundation, Cerritos Planning Commissioner, Business advisory commity, Mexican American Grocery association and California grocers association.

He  belong to several charity groups who provide education for underprivileged kids in India with donation such as Akshaya Patra who provide meal to kid in India who can’t afford to buy lunch at schools.
