Kannan immigratedd from India in 1992, and has lived in Loundon for over two decades. As an finance professionals, he helped grow a Sterling based retail and financial services company into an industry pioneer. Kannan took the lead of the finance department of the Jose Andres restaurant Group in 2021, and helped lead them safely out of the depths of the pandemuc.

Kannan holds a bachelor degree in Commerce from Vivekanand College at the University of Madras, India, and in MS Accounting from Old Dominion University.

Kannan was one of the youngest accountants ever to complete the Chartered accountant Preofessional certifications from the Institute of the Charteredd Accountants of India. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.(CPA).

Business leader Kannan Srinivasan, who immigrated from India in the 90s, was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates from the India-American dominated Loudon County area. All three winners in Virginia are from the Democratic party as are the three winners from New Jersey.

Kannan Srinivasan immigrated from India in 1992, moved to Loudoun in 1999 and has lived here for over 20 years. As a finance and business leader, Kannan helped grow a small technology insurance business in Sterling into an industry pioneer that created thousands of jobs, and he helped navigate José Andrés’ restaurant group through the depths of the pandemic.

Kannan served as Treasurer of the Loudoun County Democratic Committee for six years, and its finance chair for two years. He served as secretary of the Democratic Asian Americans of Virginia, Virginia’s AAPI caucus, for four years.

Kannan is an alumnus of the Sorensen Institute of Political Leadership at the University of Virginia (CTP 2018). As a community leader, Kannan worked with County Board of Supervisors on AAPI month proclamation for the first time in Loudoun.

Kannan lives in Loudoun County with his wife Jay. Jay is an alumna of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras and George Mason University, Virginia and is passionate about disability advocacy and cancer research.

  • Chair of the Virginia State Medicaid Board (DMAS). He was appointed by Governor Terry McAuliffe in 2017 and re-appointed by Governor Ralph Northam in 2021.
  • Served on the Loudoun Fiscal Impact Committee and the Loudoun Economic Development Advisory Commission.
  • Board member of the Loudoun Free Clinic in Leesburg, VA, and the George Washington University Heart and Vascular Institute.
  • Treasurer of Capital IIT – a worldwide alumni foundation for the Indian Institute of Technology, and Wheels Global Foundation.
  • Recipient of the Unsung Hero Award from the AAPI Caucus of the Virginia Democratic Party.
