India's
Minister of State for DEFENCE attended Bay Area Telugu Association
Encouraged NRI investors in semiconductor industry

India's Minister
of State for DEFENCE, Mr. M. Pallam Raju, Ex-NRI and an entrepreneur
in the field of Information Technology attended as the Guest Speaker
at 10th anniversary of Time To Market (TTM) Inc that was held
on February 9, 2008 at Indian Community Center, Milpitas, California
Mrs. Vijaya
Aasuri of BATA (Bay Area Telugu Association) introduced Mr. M.
Pallam Raju on the stage. India's Minister started with topic:
- The current
status of semiconductor industry in India, the opportunities
and challenges
- The Government
of India is closely involved in policy making and helping the
semiconductor industry
NRIs were
very surprised to hear his speech that went into details of Indian
semiconductor industry, the opportunities and challenges. The
guests included Telugu Association of North America (TANA), NRI
TDP, members of Bay Area Telugu Association (BATA) and employees
of TTM were present there. Mr. Venkata Simhadri, President &
CEO of TTM explained the history and continuous progress of TTM
in helping their customers.
Bay Area Telugu
Association (BATA) is a non-profit organization devoted to the
awareness and promotion of Telugu culture in the Greater San Francisco
Bay Area. Formed in 1971, is one of the biggest Indo-American
organizations in San Francisco Bay Area and is one of the oldest
Telugu Associations in North America. BATA was formally registered
in 1982 as a Non-profit organization
Mr. M. Pallam
Raju was graduated in Electronics and Communication Engineering
and earned his masters degree from the United States in International
Business and Management Information System (MIS). He also worked
in Philadelphia and Boston in the USA and in Oslo, Norway, in
the field of Computers and Information Technology. He was born
on August 31, 1962 at Pitapuram in East Godavari district of Andhra
Pradesh, Mr Raju has had a long and distinguished political career.
Mr Raju was
first elected to the ninth Lok Sabha in 1989 from Kakinada Lok
Sabha constituency and was re-elected in 2004. As a member of
Lok Sabha, he remained a member in the Committee on Science and
Technology and Consultative Committee on Food Processing Industries
in the 90s. From 1994 to 1997, he served on the Board of Directors
of Air India and Indian Airlines. He has also been serving as
the Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on IT since 2004.
Mr Raju is
the son of Dr MS Sanjeevi Rao who served as a Minister in Government
of India from 1982 to 1984 and was also the founder Chairman of
Electronics Commission (1985-88). Married to Mrs Mamatha, Mr Raju
has two children.
