Brampton West incumbent Vic Dhillon, in his last night speach
told his supportes in a Brampton restaurant for the post-election
celebration:
- I remained committed to publicly funded services
- People are ready for a better education system and publicly
funded health care system and credited the Liberal party's position
on both issues with securing him a second term in office
- I think people were happy with the progress we've made and want
us to continue that progress.
Dhillon's campaign manager Chris Yaccato said:
- As an MPP he was available to the community at all times. ...
He runs himself ragged and people see that dedication so they
support him.
- Vic is not only a person who helps everyone, but he's a friend
to the community
Most important question in this election was the fate of Peel Memorial
Hospital: Will it close for good or will it reopen? Dhillon in a
recent interview said, "Peel Memorial won't disappear as a
functioning hospital."
The premier and health minister promises that the hospital would
temporarily close for renovations after the new Brampton Civic Hospital
opens Oct. 28.
