Advocate General Punjab, Mr Hardev Singh Mattewal is getting plenty
of press this past week on his trip to London (UK), Sacramento and
Los Angeles (USA) and Toronto, Canada.
In California, Advocate General Punjab, Mr Mattewal along with
Brig M P S Bajwa, Chairman of PEDA, Punjab attended two functions,
one in Los Angeles and second in Sacramento.
In Los Angeles, Kang Brothers of Cargo Solutions Express,
Inc. co-ordinated By Baldev Kang and Capt UDAI SINGH of
14 Punjab ( NABHA – AKAL) honoured Mr. H.S. Mattewal, Advocate
General-Punjab and Brig M P S Bajwa, Chairman of PEDA, Punjab. Kang
Brothers invited Mr.Mattewal and Brig M P S Bajwa to attend 3rd
S.S. Bajwa Memorial Golf Tournament, California, USA which is scheduled
on 12th July 2008 . Unfortunately both had been tied in their appointments
and they had to go back.
This
tournament is for the fond memory of our beloved uncle Late Surinder
Singh Bajwa, who himself was a good dedicated sportsperson. ....Read

In Sacramento, Mr H.S.Mattewal and Brig M.P.S
Bajwa were given warm welcome by Mr Mattewal's and Brig Bajwa's
old school mates at Mr Sukhi Grewal's residence on 28th June. Beside
Attorney General of Punjab Mr Mattewal is the president of Sainik
School Kapurthala old boys association. Old boys travelled all the
way from east coast, las vegas, seattle northern and southern california.
Sukhi Grewal says that all the assurance was given to Mr Mattewal
and Brig Bajwa to support old boys association.
InToronto, Asian Connections , Media Group honoured
Mr H.S. Mattewal, Advocate General-Punjab. Mr. Mattewal has been
providing free legal consultancy to NRIs through a four hour live
program on the Legal Helpline broadcast on Asian Connections Radio
since the past four years. He was felicitated for the selfless legal
services extended to the Indian diaspora. He said he was given warm
welcome by the NRIs settled in Toronto and would ever cherish these
memorable moments throughout his life. "I personally thank
all of you for giving me warm welcome here in Toronto. I congratulate
Ranbir and his team for doing a commendable job and efforts to keep
Punjab alive in Canada. Many high profile community leaders and
political leaders participated in a private function organized by
Asian Connections and honored Mr.Mattewal. He also inaugurated the
Asian connections Studio located in the office premises of Asian

During his visit to London he called upon the
NRIs to come forward to invest in Punjab in a big way. He also met
various deputations of NRIs there and assured them of state government's
fulsome support and cooperation. Replying to a query raised by the
media persons, Mr. Mattewal said that he was here on the private
visit and not on official one. He said he had come here to participate
in a religious function organized by the London based Gurdwara where
he was honored by the local Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee
Appreciating the historic decisions taken by the Badal Government
for the welfare of NRIs during the NRIs Sammelan held in Punjab,
Mr. Mattewal termed it as a 'step in the right direction to win
over the confidence of NRIs'. A high level committee was also constituted
during this Sammelan which had so far resolved many vexed issues
relating to the problems of the NRIs, said Mr. Mattewal.
Mr. Mattewal said that Punjab was making rapid strides under the
stewardship of Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal. He hoped
Punjab would soon emerge as the most preferred investment destination
and a Commercial Centre as the diverse sectors of Industry, Real
Estate, Education and Health Services in Punjab had recently witnessed
huge expansion in these fields.
He said he was given warm welcome by the NRIs settled in London
and would ever cherish these memorable moments throughout his life.
"I have personally realized the hardships being faced by the
NRIs here and would soon take up this matter with the Punjab Government
for their immediate and solution on the top priority, said Mr. Mattewal.
During his visit,
Advocate General Punjab, Mr Mattewal stated:
- The Punjab Government was committed to safeguard the rights
of the Non Resident Indians (NRIs).
- Mr. Badal had already setup special Police Stations for the
NRIs in the state to redress their complaints and grievances on
the priority.
- The Punjab Government was making all out efforts to resolve
the issues pertaining to NRIs
- The significant decisions taken by the Badal Government for
the welfare of NRIs, it as a 'step in the right direction to win
over the confidence and goodwill of NRIs'
- Request all NRIs to make huge investments in the states' development
programmes. He called upon the NRIs to come forward to invest
in Punjab in a big way.
Brig M P S Bajwa, (Retd) Chairman of (PEDA) Punjab Energy
Development Agency told our representative that he is working
very seriously for Energy technologies programs/projects including-
Solar energy, Small hydro, Municipal solid waste, Biogas plants,
Biomass and Co generation. He is also looking some help from NRI
scientists who can participate his projects.
