U.S. job opportunities are gearing up for the 2026 H-1B visa season, with registration opening from March 7 to March 24, 2025. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will conduct a random selection of beneficiaries before allowing petition filings.

For FY 2026, USCIS will continue using its beneficiary-centric selection process to prevent multiple registrations for the same applicant. This method has already led to a 38.6% drop in registrations, with 470,342 eligible applications in FY 2025.

Key Updates for the H-1B Process:

  • Registration Period: March 7–24, 2025
  • Registration Fee: $215 per beneficiary
  • Selection Process: Random selection of unique beneficiaries
  • Notification Deadline: March 31, 2025
  • India’s Strong Presence in H-1B Applications
  • Indian professionals remain dominant in the H-1B program, accounting for 72.3% of approvals in FY 2023 and holding 28% of international student jobs in the U.S.

Possible Policy Changes Under Trump
With Donald Trump’s return to the White House, H-1B visa policies and student work permits may face new restrictions. The Optional Practical Training (OPT) program could be revised, and H-1B regulations tightened. However, Trump’s proposed Gold Card initiative aims to attract top talent from elite U.S. universities.
