Blood donation camp at Buena Park Gurudwara on June 15, 2014
Buena Park, June15, 2014
On Sunday, June 15, 2014 Buena Park Gurudwara held a Red Cross blood donation drive in commemoration of the martyrdom day of Sri Guru Arjun Dev ji.
The Blood Donation Campaign is part of an effort to raise awareness of the events of 1984 and at the same time unite humanity.
Dr. Amrit Singh, MD, FACC, Chairman of the event, gave the Red Cross staff pamphlets describing the five K's of the Khalsa and the basic principles of Sikhism.
The Red Cross people were happy and they sent a thank you letter to the Gurdwara Management for support and hospitality. They especially appreciated the Langar.

Response from American Red Cross
Hi Dr. Singh, your kindness and that of all those from the temple was superb and heartwarming! Thank you so much for the accommodation and for your time and effort to enlist donors! You had 19 qualified donors give blood which will help as many as 57 people! I'm sorry I was not able to stay for lunch, but your offer of lunch for my staff was really kind, I do hope some of them took advantage of the offer! ;)
Please let all those who helped support your blood drive know how much we appreciate all of your time and generosity! The ladies I met were so dignified and beautiful! We did have a high number of deferrals, so, I'll have to review the operations report to see if we can identify anything specifically that caused deferrals…I believe we had upwards of 12…or more. possibly due to travel, low iron, under weight…these are usually the main reasons… but if it's anything more specific, I'll let you know.
As you likely know, donors can give as frequently as every 56 days, certainly we would appreciate the opportunity to come back again perhaps in late Fall?
Thank you so much…I truly enjoyed working with you! You are a really quite humorous! :
Blessing,
