Commissioner Lahori RamJis' First Barsi on Jan. 15
(May 10, 1944 – January 11, 2009)
“I have only slipped away into the next room, I am I and you are you. Whatever we were
to each other, that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy
way which you always used. Play, smile, think of me. All is well.”

It is with great pride and honor that the Ram family invites all members of the community to commemorate the life and legacy of a paragon of the ideal human being.
Commissioner Lahori Ram was the best at his worst and humble at his best. He served as the ultimate role model as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and as a member of society. He was a friend and confidant to all but an enemy to none. He left his footprints in the sand and we shall follow in those footprints. It is our duty to move forward in the path that he set and carry on the message that he firmly believed in: “United we stand and divided we fall.”
It is said that even God needs good people in His Company but we shall always miss your presence. Nevertheless, your soul will remain with us forever. We will always love you dearly. May God bless your soul and give us the strength to move on.
Please join the Ram family in a religious service honoring the first memorial ceremony of this great departed soul.

Lahori Ram appointed to state commission
From Independent Newspapers, 08/28/03.
By Justin Nyberg
Today, at the age of 59, he is both rich -- owning more than 100
apartment units in the Bay Area -- and powerful. He is president
of the Indian National Congress of America, hobnobs with the likes
of Bill Clinton and former India prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao,
and was one of seven California businessmen and women appointed
by Gov. Gray Davis last week to a four-year term on the state Commission
for Economic Development.
But the journey has not been easy. Ram left India as a 28-year-old
graduate student on Aug. 15, 1972, the country's Independence Day,
because it is known as an auspicious travel day. Ram would need
the luck. He knew no one in America
and had no idea where he would
sleep when he landed.........................Read More
