IS NRI SACHDEVA REAL HERO OR IMAGINARY HERO?

NRIs say: Gurcharan Gill Former honorary Consul General of India has Personal Vendetta Against SACHDEVA

Los Angeles, Feb. 23, 2011
Gary Singh

Our NRI community have always required heroes. The heors required ideological constructions, as imaginary figures based on a series of virtues, more than as real and concrete NRI people. Our imaginary heroes, through a myriad of innocent circumstances, often unwittingly, lead us down a path of sorrow, confusion and isolation.

NRI Former honorary Consul General of India, Gurcharan Singh's email published in India Abroad (see below) made upset millions NRI worldwide by showing his personal vendetta against Sachdeva.

He should:

  • Challenge to Indian Govt. on which merrit they had selected Mr. Sachdev for this award
  • Not to tell India abroad that their reporter did not do home work for press release.
  • Not claim that Sachdev settled in Liberia by applying "Asylum", unless you attached photo copy"
    • read press release - "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Liberia" (below)

Go out of your way to thank someone for what they are doing. It doesn't’t have to be something they do for you. Please request Indian Govt that their procedure for selection should have NRI board or consulate General of India to select these individuals who deserve these kind of awards. We heard different kind of stories but it is not fair to publish here.

MOFA Circular - Upjit Singh Sachdeva,
Honorary Consul General of India in Liberia

Monday, 21st February 2011

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Liberia wishes to state that there is no record of Mr. Upjit Singh Sachdeva, the present Honorary Consul General of India in Liberia ever applying for and being granted political asylum in Liberia. The document being widely circulated in India purporting to be confirmation that Mr. Sachdeva was granted political asylum is a fake and is forged.

As proof of the forgery, the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization has issued the statement declaring the document in circulation dated 3rd March 1997 fraudulent, with the purported official said to have signed the document, issuing an affidavit of denial.

Mr. Sachdeva entered in Liberia in 1987 and was granted Permit of Residence like thousands of other business people in the country after fulfilling all of the requirements for residency.

The Government of Liberia granted an Exequatur for him after the Indian Government nominated him based on his good record and service. His record of service since becoming Honorary Consul of India remains impeccable and he continues significantly to the promotion of good relations between Liberia and India and the well being of both Indians and Liberians in this country
