NRI Anand Jon fashion designer found guilty of rape, and sexual assault

NRI Anand Jon, Celebrity fashion designer has been found guilty of sexually assaulting young models- 16 counts of rape, possession of child pornography and other sex charges. It included lewd acts on a child, rape and sexual battery between 2001 and 2007 against nine models aspirants aged between 14 and 21.The prosecutors said Jon lured girls and women to Los Angeles with the promise they could work as models and then attacked them.

He faces lifetime imprisonment after being found guilty on 16 criminal counts by a Los Angeles Superior Court jury. He has to serve 67 years of a life sentence before being eligible for parole. He is also under indictment in New York on similar charges involving nine women and is under investigation by authorities in Texas and Massachusetts.

Anand was acquitted of four other charges. Jurors deadlocked on three other counts. He will be sentenced on Jan. 13, 2009.

His attorney said his client planned to appeal.
