Raninder Singh- Bathinda Parliamentary Constituency (the son of Capt. Amarinder Singh )




The Congress (I) has fielded S. Raninder Singh s/o Capt Amarinder Singh (former CM Punjab and presently Chairman Congress(I)Campaign Committee , Punjab) as their candidate for the Bathinda Parliamentary constituency in the forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections.

Born on 2nd August 1967, S Raninder Singh, started his education at YPS Patiala before going to The Doon School Dehradun. He spent one year at St Stephens College New Delhi and graduated from Buckingham University, UK in 1990. He got married to Rishma in the year 1995. They have two daughters and a son.

S Raninder Singh was appointed General Secretary of the Punjab Pradesh Congress(I) Committee in 2005.and made incharge of Bathinda Distreict. During the 2007 assembly polls he was responsible for the Congress campaign in 9 assembly segments of Bathinda District. Working with sheer determination, Raninder Singh, was able to endear himself to the masses and his efforts resulted in the Congress party winning 7 of the 9 seats. For the first time the Congress party was able to create a dent in the Malwa region which was always considered a strong Akali bastion.

Apart from his being an astute politician, S. Raninder Singh has made his mark as a sportsman too. He has not only represented Punjab regularly in the Trap shooting event but has also represented India at many International Competitions. He is ranked amongst the top 10 Trap shooters in the country. He is also the Vice President of the National Rifle Association of India
