PM Modi Outlines Third-Term Goals, Showcases India as a Land of Opportunity to Indian Audience in New York

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi spoke to an enthusiastic crowd of over 15,000 members of the Indian community at an event in Long Island, New York today.

The Prime Minister received an exceptionally warm welcome, highlighting the important role the Indian American community plays in strengthening India-US relations. He reflected on his recent meeting with President Biden in Delaware, which he described as a testament to the trust the Indian diaspora has established with the United States.

In his address, PM Modi outlined his vision for a "Viksit Bharat" by 2047, marking the historic third term he secured through the largest democratic exercise in history. He reaffirmed his commitment to India’s advancement, emphasizing the significant progress made over the last decade, including modern infrastructure, lifting 250 million people out of poverty, and India’s rise to the 5th largest economy, with aspirations to become the third largest.

The Prime Minister stressed the government’s dedication to reforms that reflect the aspirations of the populace, fueled by innovation, entrepreneurship, and digital empowerment. He also highlighted the transformative effects of women-led initiatives and green transitions in driving growth at the grassroots level.

He noted India’s pivotal role in global prosperity, peace, climate action, and innovation, stating that the country's voice is increasingly influential on the world stage.

In a significant announcement, PM Modi revealed plans to open new Indian consulates in Boston and Los Angeles, along with the establishment of a Thiruvalluvar Chair for Tamil studies at the University of Houston. He emphasized that these initiatives would strengthen the enduring connection between India and its diaspora in the US, further enhancing bilateral ties.
