Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Guyana, highlighted the enduring cultural and historical bonds between India and the Indo-Guyanese community. Expressing gratitude to President Irfaan Ali for his warm hospitality, Modi recalled his previous visit to Guyana over two decades ago, emphasizing the unchanging affection of the Guyanese people.

Modi paid tribute to the Indo-Guyanese community’s journey, acknowledging their ancestors' resilience in making a new home nearly two centuries ago. He commended their contributions to Guyana’s development, highlighting figures like former President Cheddi Jagan and current leaders, President Irfaan Ali and Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo.

During his visit to the India Arrival Monument, the Prime Minister reflected on the shared heritage and the community’s success in preserving Indian traditions while embracing Guyanese culture.

Modi noted the deep connections through shared cultural traditions, cuisine, and a mutual love for cricket. He praised Guyana’s Indian diaspora for their achievements and expressed pride in their role as cultural ambassadors.

During his address, the Prime Minister discussed bilateral agreements to deepen cooperation in energy, healthcare, agriculture, and innovation. He highlighted India's rapid economic and technological progress, inviting the Indo-Guyanese community to participate in India’s growth story.

Modi emphasized India’s commitment to global issues like climate change and sustainable development, highlighting initiatives like the International Solar Alliance and the Global Biofuels Alliance. He expressed optimism about future collaborations between India and Guyana, particularly under the India-CARICOM framework.

The Prime Minister invited the Indo-Guyanese community to visit India for events like the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Bhubaneswar and the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. He encouraged them to explore their ancestral roots and witness India’s progress firsthand.

Concluding his address, Modi expressed gratitude for the love and support received during his visit, affirming India’s unwavering commitment to strengthening ties with Guyana and its vibrant Indian-origin community.
