NRI Jatinder S.Rai has been appointed to The Insurance Corporation
of British Columbia (ICBC)'s Board of Directors.There are a total
of eight directors. His term will expired in June 30, 2009
The Board of ICBC consists of at least 3 members appointed by
the Lieutenant Governor in Council. The Lieutenant Governor in
Council must also designate a director as chair of the board.
The Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) is the province's
largest Crown Corporation, based on revenues, whose purpose is
to provide mandatory automobile insurance and other optional insurance
coverage to BC' motor vehicle owners.
The Board has the power and authority given to it by the Insurance
Corporation Act and subject to the act, it manages and supervises
the affairs and business of the Insurance Corporation of BC. There
are ten Board meetings per year; members are asked to be available
for regular meetings and may be asked to sit on additional committees
to deal with specific issues as they arise.
Jatinder S.Rai is the founder, president and CEO of Response
Advertising Inc. Response Advertising is a fully-integrated marketing
and communications agency that specializes in reaching multicultural
markets throughout Canada and the United States. He was only 7
years-old when he immigrated to Canada at the age of seven. He
is currently living in Surrey.
Mr. Rai has over twelve years experience in the marketing and
advertising industry. A graduate from the University of Victoria.
Mr. Rai is currently completing his post-baccalaureate work in
Marketing and Cross Cultural Communications. He has previously
been a board member with the Open Learning Agency and Granville
Island Trust, and is also volunteering with a youth drop-in program
in Surrey. In addition to serving on the ICBC board, over the
years Mr. Rai has served in the community as a volunteer with
several non-profit organizations including YM-YWCA (Victoria),
Mosaic, United Way South Asian Advisory Board, the Canadian Diabetes
Association and Surrey Memorial Hospital.
