It was then that the company scrapped its grand plan
for a practical one and stuck to what was already
a proven success on the Internet. It was that bow
to pragmatism that helped NexTag reach the top of
the San Francisco Business Times List of Fastest Growing
Privately Held Companies in 2003.
Founded in 1999 by Ojha and his fellow Stanford MBA
classmate Rafael Ortiz, the idea was initially to
create a marketplace where buyers and sellers match
up and haggle for almost any conceivable good or service.
The two financed the company out of their own savings
for the first six months and then raised $4 million
in venture funding from Morgenthaler Ventures
NexTag's highly qualified traffic and performance-based
pricing makes it an extremely efficient sales channel

individuals. Over 11 million people per month use
NexTag.com to research, compare, and buy products
and services online. The company was also recently
recognized as the fastest growing comparison shopping
service on the Internet
