NRI Lalsingh Narainsingh, 48, of 90-16 182d Street in the Hollis
section of Queens, teacher at Intermediate School 59, has been
charged with sexually abusing one of his students and faces up
to seven years in prison if convicted.
According to the police, the defendant allegedly molested a 14-year
old male student in 2004 after asking him to help clean up an
empty classroom after school. He offered to pay student 20 for
oral sex. Police investigated the teacher after the alleged victim
described the incident to his mother,
Lalsingh Narainsingh is facing charges of a second-degree criminal
sexual act, third-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare
of a child. He has been placed on an ineligible list by the Department
of Education meaning that he can’t work in city schools,
even if he is acquitted
The Queens district attorney, Richard Brown, said, "The
charges are very disturbing and classroom should always be a safe
place for a child."
