Police Recruits Three NRIs, including two women

On Thursday, NRI Michael Bal and two women- Anisha Parhar, Hardeep
Sahota were sworn among the 16 new Vancouver Police Department recruitment
NRI Michael Bal graduated from Simon Fraser University with Bachelors
of Arts degree in political science. He worked Vancouver Police
Museum as full time student. He was active volunteer member of the
South Vancouver Community Policing Centre for two years. He is a
member of Vancouver Police Judo Club.
NRI Hardeep Sahota, was a captained of women’s basketball
team at Douglas College and received "most inspirational player”
award in 2003. She received diploma in criminology from Douglas
College. She volunteered herself with the South Vancouver Community
Policing Centre and the Vancouver Police Victim Services Unit. She
also spent past four years as the coordinator of youth programs
in Sunset Community Centre
NRI Anisha Parha, canadian citizen, New Zealand returned, received
diploma in marketing management from BCIT. She worked as account
manager with Mulit-Media Technologies and later as a wire room monitor
with the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit. She volunteered
herself with the Coquitlam Policing Centre. She is also active member
of the Vancouver Police Judo Club
All three speaks Punjabi very well.

- 4th Class Constable (after 1 year) $58,212
- 3rd Class Constable (after 2 years) $62,088
- 2nd Class Constable (after 3 years) $69,852
- 1st Class Constable (after 4 years) $77,616

- After 10 years- $81,497
- 15 years- $85,378
- 20 years- $89,258
