NRI in death plunge from Bahrain hotel

Manama, Bahrain, Feb. 14, 2007
Abrar Alvi

NRI, Purshothaman Gireesan, 43, from Kerala has died after plunging from the fourth floor of a Manama hotel. He died on the spot when he fell on a car parked behind the Bahrain International Hotel. He suffered a broken neck, spinal fractures and head injuries.

Police also confirmed that they had found a bottle of liquor from his room with nearly 3/4 left over. Police is still investigating that Mr Gireesan may be committed suicide or fell when he lost his balance on the windowsill.

He along with a colleague, checked into the hotel at around 9.00 pm on Monday. The hotel security reported at around 12.30 am that a man was lying on the road in a pool of blood.

Ahmed Sulaiman said, "We initially thought he had been hit by a car, but it was soon clear that he had fallen out of the window."

He had worked for a large construction and contracting company in Kuwait and had recently quit his job to join another company. Mr Gireesan was living in Kuwait and he had come to Bahrain to change his visa to a new employer, who had earlier hired him and put him on a visit visa.
