Jattan's body found near school in Surry
Surry, November 13, 2006
On November 7th, 2006 at 0809 hours, Surrey
Detachment received a report of a found body at the
rear of Creekside Elementary School located at 13838
- 91st Avenue, Surrey BC. The victim has been identified
as Elvan Prakash JATTAN, 23 yrs old of Surrey, B.C.
The deceased was situated at the rear
of the school near the playground equipment. Students
on their way to school noticed the body and reported
it to the School staff. Surrey Detachment General Duty
members attended the school immediately. The school
was locked down and secured.
The Detachment Serious Crime Unit were
contacted and initiated enquiries. Foul play was apparent
so conduct of the investigation was turned over to the
Integrated Homicide Investigation Team. Due to the fact
the crime scene was situated within a school property,
IHIT dispatched two investigative teams to respond and
initiate enquiries.
He had been charged with a drug-trafficking
offence in Surrey two years ago that was stayed this
past March.
Police are not saying whether they believe Elvan "Alvin"
Prakash Jattan, 23, fell victim to a random or targeted
attack. Jattan lived a stone's throw from where his
body was found. He'd gone missing the night before after
taking out the trash.
Jattan's friends described him as a nice guy who kept
to himself.
Police are not revealing how he died.
