Hark Hans shot dead at Surrey's Eaglequest Golf Course
SURREY, B.C., Canada, March 27, 2008
Lachman Singh
NRI Hark Hans, 28, found dead in the parking lot of a golf course
in Surrey, B.C and investigators are trying to determine whether
has any links to organized crime or drug-dealing associations.
He was found in a white Honda and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigators are still building a victim profile.
RCMP Sgt. Roger Morrow said:
- RCMP's Integrated Homicide Investigation Team were called
to the popular Eaglequest Golf Centre in the 7000 block of 152
Street Wednesday night
- The shooting took place at around 8:30 p.m. and the body was
in a vehicle or even partially out
- The golf course driving range and restaurant were still open
at the time of the incident, so they believe there may have
been witnesses.
The police said this is the sixth so-called targeted shooting
in Metro Vancouver in less than two weeks. The Integrated Homicide
Investigation Team has investigated 18 homicides within its jurisdiction,
which includes areas covered by all Metro Vancouver RCMP detachments
and municipal police departments except Delta, Vancouver and West
Vancouver. This compares to just eight killings investigated by
IHIT by the same time last year. In Vancouver alone there have
been eight slayings so far this year, five of them shootings,
compared with four killings in the same period last year.
The police said:
- There could be many reasons why a killing like this takes
place
- The victim is killed sitting in his car in a public place,
apparently waiting for someone.
It then turns out that police know the individual and Hans was
known to them. There is a connection between the victim and the
drug trade or organized crime.
