Kenya NRI arrested for cheating 1.5 crore to Indian importer by sending empty containers

In 2004, NRI Manish Gupta from Kenya, owner of Doncapo Afroasia company, made a contract with Ghaziabad-based importer Pradeep Kumar Garg to send a large quantity of aluminium ignot from Nigeria for worth of Rs 1.25 crore

When Gupta's company Doncapo Afroasia despatched the shipment to Delhi from Nigeria, Garg found almost empty containers with five per cent of the order. Pradeep Kumar Garg registered case with Delhi police.

On March 15, when Manish Gupta arrived Delhi Airport from Kenya, he was arrested for allegedly defrauding of Rs 1.25 crore.

Gupta told police during interrogation that he prepared the false export documents with the help of Rajeev Aggarwal who is director of his firm Doncapo Afroasia. He was produced before a local court and judge gave four days remand to police for further investigation.
