Growing In A Lab
In these very difficult times
I dwell in this tiny room
It feels like a laboratory
Where my strengths are tested
How much I can take?
And when will I break?
What makes me tick?
And what makes me sick?
I am under my own eye
Checking and recording
The causes and effect
How I act and react
I depend on myself
I learn as I grow
I am stronger as I learn
And I am surer as I gain strength
I surprise myself with my resolve
I watch myself as I evolve
Life is not easy, it sometimes is rough
I persevere in the face of tough
Needed to get away from the routine
Step back and look at me
To recognize and realize
I didn’t have to be what I was told to be
I don’t have to deny myself
I don’t have to hide
I don’t have to just accept
Now I can be as I am
Once the testing is done
The lessons are learned
I can make that work for me
And let it shine a little brighter.
