charged for bogus wedding scams and
Court has ordered confiscation of one million pounds

NRI Jaswinder Gill, 43, and her husband Darshan, 42
duped young British Asian women into flying to India by offering
them lucrative contracts modeling bridal wear. They were charging
Indian men around Rs 7.5 lakh per wedding and help them skip immigration
procedures, the Isleworth Crown Court was told. Some rich NRIs even
paid the the couple upto 14,000 pounds to set up the ceremonies.
In Hillingdon, west London, Jaswinder's home had been
turned into a marriage factory for Indian men wanting to skip immigration
procedures, the court was told.
More than £900,000 of assets have been stripped
from a jailed husband and wife. NRI couple who is thought to have
made up to £1m from bogus wedding scams, was stripped of £849,3000
at London's Isleworth Crown Court. They owned two homes and expensive
cars.
Jaswinder duped young British Asian women into flying
to India by offering them lucrative modelling contracts.But they
then found themselves marrying total strangers desperate for a life
in Britain. One victim who tried to pull out was threatened with
rape.
In 2005, Jaswinder was jailed for 10 years at the
same court for helping people get illegal entry to the UK and perverting
the course of justice.
