The "mischievous deeds" of an NRI boy
allegedly in connivance with his maternal grand mother
here has ruined the career of city-based girl whose
marriage failed to materialise due to the dowry greed
of groom's family.
Seeking stern action against Tutu Singh Aujla, a
resident of Ramnagar village in Kurukshetra district
of Haryana and believed to be a green card holder,
his maternal grand mother Gurdev Kaur Shekhon and
boy's mother Hardeep Kaur alias Rita, the father of
the girl told reporters here today that the family
deceived the girls side by claiming that their son
(Tutu) was working as a finance manager in a Multi
national company at USA.
However, more than two years after the court marriage
between my daughter and Tutu, our family came to know
that the NRI's family was "habitual of cheating
and demanding dowry" from the bride's parents,
the father, a retired government employee said. Telling
his woes about the matrimonial alliance that failed
to carry forward, he said after the meeting between
the two parties, the engagement of my daughter took
place with Tutu in 2001.
"At the time of marriage, Sekhon and Aujla told
me that in case we intend to give any dowry articles,
it would be better o give cash one one lakh each,"
the father of the girl said. PTI
