NRI, wife hold slanging match after press meet

: It was high drama at high noon, with an NRI Kulwant Singh and his wife Balbir Kaur making claims and counter claims after a press conference called by the former, where he projected himself as deserted husband at Press Club on Tuesday.

But, things became melodramatic when his wife reached the venue and rebutted all the allegations levelled by Kulwant.

Kulwant Singh had alleged that his wife had cheated him from the very first day of their marriage. ‘‘She withdrew huge sums of money from their joint account and also sold his house.'' alleged Kulwant.

However, Balbir Kaur denied all this and hurled invectives at Kulwant in front of media persons. Kulwant, who was earlier hesitant to talk to Balbir in the presence of mediapersons later decided to leave the place.

While Kulwant was running with one of his relative towards a car parked in Sector 27 market, Balbir followed him, hurling abuses at him.

Earlier in the press conference which was supported by a public relation company, Kulwant said that he got married with Balbir Kaur in 1990. He was working in Germany at that time. He claimed that Balbir Kaur lied to him and she gave her name as Ravneet Kaur to him and his family.

He claimed that he provided all comforts to her but she cheated him and withdrew large amount of money from their joint account
