NO TEACHER CRUSHED UNDER CONVOY VEHICLE: MEDIA ADVISOR
AGITATORS ACT UNLAWFUL AFTER CM HAD FIXED MEETING FOR DECEMBER 10
......
Chief Minister’s Media Advisor Mr. Bains

Chandigarh, December 7: Wed 12/7/2011 6:51 AM PST ( 8.21PM)

A delegation of teachers today assaulted the security personnel in an attempt to block the convoy of the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal at Sukhna  Abloo
.
The incident took place after Mr. Badal had agreed to consider their demands in a structured meeting in Chandigarh on December 10 for a permanent resolution of demands of the EGS Teachers.

There was no truth in the allegation that two teachers were crushed under the car of the Chief Minister, said the Chief Minister’s Media Advisor Mr. Harcharan Bains. He was talking to newsmen here this evening,

Mr. Bains said that the Chief Minister had earlier met the delegation of teachers and that the meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere. But once the delegation members came out and were joined by some other colleagues, the mood of the protesters changed and they tried to block the convoy of the Chief Minister. They had to be removed from the site through the use of minimal force to pave the way for the smooth movement of the convoy. In the melee that followed, a few persons, including half a dozen security personnel, received injuries. Three members of the lady police force had to be admitted to the hospital for treatment.

“Mr. Badal is the most accessible public person in the state. And he has already up a cabinet sub committee to consider all such demands. He also fixed a meeting for personally considering and taking a decision on the demands of the EGS teachers on December 10. In the light of this, there could be no justification for anyone to resort to unlawful acts in the agitation”, said the Media Advisor.

Mr. Bains reiterated the Chief Minister’s appeal to the agitating teachers to facilitate a positive movement on the resolution of their demands.
