Accordint to local media press release, Manpreet, nephew of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said:

• He would never join the Congress. He was a born Akali and had no intentions to leave SAD.
• Question about floating a new party, Manpreet today said "everything will unfold with the passage of time."
• I want to know what indiscipline I had committed? Did I defy any party whip? What crime I had committed?
• Questioning his suspension from the party, he said:
  • "I want to know what indiscipline I had committed?
  • Did I defy any party whip? What crime I had committed?"
  • 'Subsidy is not a favour to the people but their right
• He had no intention to bring down the SAD-BJP government in the state but only wanted to highlight the truth with regard to the Central offer of debt waiver to Punjab.

Sukhbir Badal, the Deputy Chief Minister said:

• The SAD leaders and activists would not allow anyone to weaken or divide the party which had a long history of a struggle and sacrifices.
• It's not the property of any one person.
