Congress & Manpreet in a conspiracy of "synchronized speech and silence”: Sekhwan
Minister asks Manpreet to break silence on Congress scams
Chandigarh November 19 -
The Shiromani Akali Dal spokesman and Punjab Minister for Education Sewa Singh Sekhwan asked the Punjab Congress leaders and the expelled SAD legislator Manpreet Singh Badal to break their silence on Rs.1.761akh Crore 2-G scam of the Congress led UPA government at the center.
In a statement released here today, Mr. Sekhwan said that Manpreet and the Congress were maintaining a conspiracy of "synchronized silence and speech" on all issues. "Why is Manpreet who claims that cleanliness in public life is high on his agenda, not utter even a single word against one of the biggest scams to hit the country's public life. The fact is that his silence and speech are both remote controlled by Pranab Mukherjee and other senior leaders of the Congress party." alleged Mr. Sekhwan.
The Minister said that the Congress leaders and the expelled SAD legislator were finding it hard to speak in a different languages even for the sake of form. "On the issue of subsidies, they are both singing the tune composed for them by rich business house who did not want the government to come to the aid of the beleaguered farmers and deprived sections of society so that they (business houses) could exploit the helplessness of the common man." said Mr. Sekhwan.
The Minister however declared that the pro-people policies including subsidies to the poor and the core sectors would continue despite opposition by big houses, Manpreet and the Congress. "These policies were an integral part of Mr. Parkash Singh Badal's vision for the poor," he said.
Mr. Sekhwan said that it was obvious that both opponents of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal were drawing directions from the same think-tank and the same poo1 of tactics and ideas. If there was any doubt in the minds of anyone, that has been removed by the songs of high praise being sung by Manpreet to eulogize the sworn enemy of the SAD and the Badal family, Amarinder Singh. At the same time, Congress leaders like Madam Rajinder Kaur Bhathal, Partap Singh Bajwa and Youth Congress president Ravneet Singh Bittu had been rolling a red carpet for Manpreet. It is only the rivalry between Amarinder and Bhathal that has temporarily blocked Manpreet's entry into the Congress." said Mr. Sekhwan.
The Akali leader said that both the Congress and Manpreet were speaking in identical voices on the issue of debt waiver too. "'Manpreet Singh just does not tire of issuing daily certificates to the center on the debt waiver. If he is to be believed, Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee was waiting in his porch with a bag containing Rs. 35000 crores to be delivered to anyone who comes from Punjab to receive it," said Mr. Sekhwan. He further said that the reply given by the Union Ministry of Finance on the floor of the house had blown the lid off the lies being told by both the Congress and Manpreet on this issue. "There is still no mention of the promised waiver in the center government's reply to a pointed question whether an offer to write off Rs. 35000 crore on certain conditions was ever made to the then Punjab Finance Minister. If such an offer was indeed made in a private conversation between Manpreet and Pranab Mukherjee, what is stopping the center from putting that on the record of the Parliament. And what stops Mr. Pranab Mukherjee to make the same offer again to show that it was Punjab government's fault not to have accepted the offer," said the Minister.
Mr. Sekhwan said that Manpreet was expecting the Punjabis to believe that the Chief Minister and the entire Punjab cabinet was mindless enough to refuse Rs. 35, 000 Crore.
