MAKE FUTURE GENERATIONS AWARE OF IMPORTANCE OF SUPREME SACRIFICE OF BHAGAT SINGH, RAJGURU & SUKHDEV ----SUKHBIR SINGH BADAL

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal today emphasized the need to make future generations aware of the importance of supreme sacrifice of our great freedom fighters including Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev who gave their lives in the prime of their youth so that we can all breathe in peace.
Addressing an impressive gathering after paying glorious tributes at the birth place of sardar bhagat Singh at a state level function on the 79th martyrdom day of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal that martyrs were not limited to any religion, community or region as they were the pride of whole nation and a fountain head of inspiration for the coming generations. He pointed out that real tribute to our great martyrs was to ensure the balanced and overall development of the country providing equal opportunities to every citizen of the country.
He regretted that even after more than six decades of country’s freedom, our governments failed miserably in providing the basic civic amenities to its citizens despite making tall claims of Unjion government of higher growth rate in terms of infrastructure, telecommunications and civil aviation. He said that recent backbreaking and all time high historic price rise has snatched two squares meal from the mouths of our poor countrymen and diesel price hike has also pushed to the wall the economy of farmers, middleclass population and traders alike. Much claimed and publicized Aam Aadmi ki Sarkar is proved to be a major setback for the aspirations of Aam Aadmi, he added.
He reminded that our great freedom fighters made supreme sacrifice for the betterment of coming generations but unfortunately their aspirations had not been cherished because our country could not get rid of chronicle problems of illiteracy, unemployment and starvation. He said that on one side the Punjabi farmers with their hard work and dedication made our country self reliant on food security front but due to faulty policies of our Union government more than one third of country’s population still sleeps with empty bellies and farming community was also reeling under huge debt. He gave a clarion call for taking a pledge on this auspicious day to undertake various programmes and schemes aimed at the development and welfare of a common man at the grass root levels as this was the dream of our freedom fighters. "It will be a real tribute to our national heroes and great martyrs who made supreme sacrifices for the independence of our country", said Mr.Badal.
Mr Badal said that the Punjab government was fully committed to perpetuate the legacy of freedom fighters and national heroes through organizing such state level functions to inculcate the spirit of patriotism and nationalism amongst our younger generation.
Lashing out at Congress led UPA Government at the Center for “continuous neglect, discrimination and injustice against Punjab”, mr badal said that UPA has made Punjab highly taxed island surrounded by tax holiday enjoying hill states to destroy the industrial base in the State.Mr Badal said that Congress led UPA has also neglecting Punjab, the grainery of India in debt waiver scheme.
Mr. Badal said that SAD BJP Government was moving with a commitment to strengthen infrastructure including power, road and air connectivity in the State to attract investment in the state. He said that against total installed capacity of 6800 MW achieved in 62 years, during last three years alone three major thermal plants at Talwandi Sabo, Goindwal and Rajpura besides 29 mini bio mass power plants are set to generate 4540 MW power with an combined investment of Rs. 22000 crore. He said that Punjab would be only state in the country having distinction of three International Airports out of total 16 in the country besides two upcoming domestic airports at Ludhiana and Bathinda. Speaking about industrial progress Mr. Badal said that besides Bathinda refinery coming up at the cost of Rs. 19000 crores, 65 Mega Projects including two SEZs with combined investment 37000 crore are set to change the face of Punjab’s economy.
Listing out the achievements of SAD-BJP government of last three years Mr. Badal said that rejuvenation of 125 year old canal system at the cost of Rs. 960 crores, relining the distributaries / minors at the cost of Rs. 1200 crore. He pointed out that when whole of the country was reeling under sky rocketing prices of essential commodities, SAD -BJP government was taking care of 14.5 Lac families by supplying them Atta at Rs. 4 per kg and Dal at Rs. 20 per kg. .
Revealing the steps taken to improve urban infrastructure, Mr. Badal said that government has drawn Rs. 3380 crore plan for urban renewal out of which Rs. 1282 crore had already been spent against total Rs. 760 crore spent by congress in its full tenure. He said that this does not include Rs. 180 crore spent for slum development programs.
Reiterating the commitment of Punjab Government to supply potable water to all 14000 habitations of the State, Mr. Badal said that present government has already covered 4271 habitation in three years against 2000 covered by congress in five years. He said that all difficult areas are set to get RO system in next two years.
Declaring the year 2010 as year of governance reforms Mr. Badal said that besides doing away with cumbersome affidavits, Punjab would become first state to allow self attestation of documents instead of attestation by gazetted officers/ notary / executive magistrate/ SDM.
Earlier Mr Badal paid floral tributes the statue of Sardar Bhagat Singh and interacted with the family members of Sardar Bhagat Singh. He also inaugurated an Adarsh school building set up in the memory of Shaheed-e-Azam. He also released a book titled ‘ Yug Paltau Chintak-Sardar Bhagat Singh’ written by eminent writer Mr Gurdev Singh Sidhu and published by Information & public relations Department, Punjab.
Prominent amongst others who spoke and paid glorious tributes included; Mr Manoranjan Kalia, Ch. Swarna Ram ,( both Cabinet Ministers ), Ch Nand Lal, Mr Sohan Singh Thandal, Mr Sukhpal Singh Nannu , ( all CPS ), Ch Mohan Lal Banga and Mr Jatinder Singh Kariha ( both MLAs ).The family members of Shaheed-e-Azam included his nephew Mr Abhey Singh Sandhu, Mr Bhupinder Singh, Mr Harjeev pal singh Gill, Abhitej Singh, Amarjyoti Thind and Anush Priya Benipal.

Jalandhar, March 23
Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister Punjab today said that Punjab Government would take every required step to ensure participation of all Chief Parliamentary Secretaries in the policy decisions of concerned ministries.
Mr. Badal was here to pay obeisance at Sri Devi Talab Mandir and took part in the Shoba Yatra function on the eve of Ram Navami.Mr Badal congratulated the people on the eve of Ram Navmi and called upon people to move on righteous path as shown by Maryada Purshotam Lor Rama.
Commenting on CPS’s role in policy decisions while replying to media queries here, Mr. Badal said that Chief Minister was charting out a system to give proper participation to Chief Parliamentary Secretaries in government working. He said that CM would soon give more responsibilities to CPSs.
Criticising the previous Congress governments for not installing even a single power production unit, Mr. Badal said that not only Punjab but the whole country was facing power crises. SAD-BJP government had taken all possible initiatives to increase power production and these initiatives would bear fruits in coming 2-3 years. He said that at present government was taking every step to meet power requirements but we have to suffer the negligence of previous governments for not taking such steps.

PUNJAB CM GREETS PEOPLE ON RAM NAVAMI
CHANDIGARH MARCH 23:
Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today extended his warm greetings to the people of Punjab on the auspicious occasion of 'Ram Navami, the birthday of Lord Rama.
In his message, Mr. Badal said that this sacred day symbolizes the unity of mankind and brotherhood besides moral and spiritual values preached by Lord Rama (Maryada Purshotam). He said, "Lord Ram is the
embodiment of tolerance, justice and high moral values. His philosophy and teachings inspire all of us to rededicate ourselves to the cause of a just society."
The Chief Minister called upon the people to follow the teachings of Lord Rama in true spirit, which were still relevant in the present materialistic society besides redeeming the mankind from the yoke of evils. May the
festival usher in happiness, prosperity and well being of all, he added. Mr.Badal also appealed the people to celebrate this sacred day collectively rising above the parochial considerations of caste, colour, creed and
religion.

She said, Lord Rama, through his role as Maryada Purushottama has inspired generations of mankind to uphold the high standards of ethical conduct in life and his life and teachings have the power to provide guidance and spiritual solace in all phases of our lives.
The life of Lord Ram inspires us to follow the path of righteousness even in the face of extreme hardships. It is an occasion to rededicate ourselves towards living virtuously. She prayed that may this day inspire us all to spread Lord Ram’s message of righteous conduct and selfless service and strengthen our resolve to strive for justice and human dignity in order to build a glorious India.
Prof Chawla said that being citizens of a country, where Lord Rama was born, it becomes our duty to take care of our parents and not let them live alone in old age homes. The leaders and officials who are governing the nation should also dedicate themselves for the welfare of the masses.
