MEDIA ADVISOR BAINS' GESTURE TO THE NATIONAL HERO

CHANDIGARH MARCH 7, 2008

In an extraordinary gesture, Mr.Harcharan Bains, Media Advisor to the Chief Minister Mr.Parkash Singh Badal today decided to donate one kanal plot from his ancestral property at Mahilpur (Hoshiarpur) to the patriotic national hero Mr.Kashmir Singh to help him have a house of his own.

Mr. Kashmir Singh who called on the Chief Minister this morning, told Mr.Badal that he was having difficulty in finding a personal accommodation for him and his family as his old house in Nangal Khilarian was too small and was in a dilapidated condition. Mr.Badal immediately enquired from the Chief Secretary over the telephone as to the procedure for allotment of government land in Mahilpur.

At this point Mr.Bains intervened to say that he and his family owned ancestral land some of which fell in quality residential areas, and said that he would be more than happy to give one kanal free of cost to Mr.Kashmir Singh and his family for building a house. A beaming Mr.Badal lauded his media advisor's gesture and promptly offered government assistance to meet full expenses on the construction of a decent house on the piece of land to given for Mr.Kashmir Singh by Mr. Bains.

Later, Mr.Bains said that since the country lived only because heroes like Mr.Kashmir Singh were willing to die for it, this is the minimum that he could think of doing in this case. He said that since he belonged to Mahilpur, he would be available to Mr.Kashmir Singh for any further possible help that he could lend him.

Mr. Bains has asked Mr. Kashmir Singh to get the formalities for the transfer of the plot immediately.
