SUKHBIR BADAL TO LEAD DELEGATION TO MUMBAI
CHANDIGARH 23 JUNE: A high level delegation led by Shiromani
Akali Dal President S. Sukhbir Singh Badal will rush to Mumbai
tomorrow where it will meet the members of the family of S. Balkar
Singh the innocent Sikh who was killed in a tragic and barbaric
incident there. A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting
of the Core Committee of Shiromani Akali Dal which was presided
over by its patron and the Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh
Badal.
Disclosing this, Chief Minster's Media Advisor Mr. Harcharan
Bains said that the delegation would also call on Chief Minister
of Maharastra Mr.Vilas Rao Deshmukh to urge him to take strictest
possible action against the culprits responsible for this incident.
The delegation would also impress upon the Chief Minister of Maharastra
to take immediate administrative measures to safeguard the life
and property of the minority Sikh community there. Shiromani Akali
Dal has appealed to all the countrymen including the Sikhs to
maintain the atmosphere of peace, communal harmony and amity at
all costs as preached by the Great Gurus. The delegation would
also meet the injured in this unfortunate incident and their family
members.
The delegation will comprise senior leaders of SAD including
S.Charanjit Singh Atwal, S.Sewa Singh Sekhwan, S.Prem Singh Chandumajra,
S.Maheshinder Singh Grewal, S.Manjit Singh Greater Kailash, S.Avtar
Singh Hit, S.Onkar Singh Thapar and Dr.Daljeet Singh Cheema.
SAD-BJP MOURN MUMBAI KILLING
APPEAL FOR PEACE AND COMMUNAL HARMONY
Chandigarh 23 June: Shiromani Akali Dal and Bhartiya Janta Party
today expressed profound grief and sorrow over the tragic and
barbaric killing of the innocent Sikh Youth Balkar Singh recently
in Mumbai and demanded a strictest possible action against the
guilty involved in the incident.
The Coordination Committee of the two parties met at the official
residence of the Punjab Chief Minister Mr.. Parkash Singh Badal
who presided over the meeting.
Giving details of the meeting, Chief Minster's Media Advisor
Mr. Harcharan Bains said that the two parties appealed to all
the sections of society to maintain peace, communal harmony and
amity at all costs. He said that SAD-BJP government reiterated
its firm commitment to maintain peace in the state under all circumstances.
"No one will be allowed to disturb the hard earned atmosphere
of peace, Punjabi unity and communal harmony in the state,"
the coordination committee declared in a joint statement issued
later.

Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today paid glowing
tributes to the legendary leader Panth Rattan Master Tara Singh
and described him as one of the key architects of modern India.
"It is due only to Master Tara Singh ji that the western
borders of India did not shrink upto Yamuna as the great leader
waged a long and relentless battle for preserving the present
geographical entity of the country", said Mr. Badal in a
statement here on the eve of 124th birth anniversary of Master
Tara Singh.
Meanwhile, the Shiromani Akali Dal President Mr.Sukhbir Singh
Badal also paid rich tributes to the legacy of the great leader
and described him as an icon for new generation. Mr. Sukhbir Singh
said that the coming generations will always remember Master Tara
Singh ji with deep gratitude and respect.
In his statement, the Chief Minister recalled recalled the singular
role played by Master Tara Singh for securing justice for Punjab
after independence. He spearheaded the movement for linguistic
reorganization of Punjab (Punjabi Suba) and also for safeguarding
the interests of the Sikh community as a minority in India. He
signed the historic Master Tara Singh – Nehru pact which
prohibits the Central Government from taking any decision involving
the religious rights of the Sikhs without the prior consent of
the SGPC.
The Chief Minister however regreted that the Congress governments
at the Centre always betrayed the commitments made to the Punjabis
in general and Sikhs in particular forcing them to undertake long
and difficult struggles to get justice. Mr. Badal appealed to
the younger generations to follow the example set by the legendary
Master Tara Singh for the Chardi Kala of Sikh Panth.
BADAL CONDEMNS UT ADMINISTRATION'S ACTION
AGAINST BJP LEADERS & WORKERS

Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today strongly
condemned the Chandigarh administration's action against peacefully
protesting the BJP leaders and workers in the city this morning
against the unprecedented price hike that had affected one and
all. He also condemned the registration of the case against the
BJP leader and Member of Parliament Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu.
In a statement here, Mr.Badal said that the Chandigarh Administration
ran against the basic norms of democratic functioning. He demanded
immediate withdrawal of the case and asked the UT administration
to act with restraint while dealing such peaceful demonstrations.
AYUSH TO POPULARIZE KASHAR- SUTRA THERAPY
FOR ANO-RECTAL DISORDERS

The Department of AYUSH, Government of India has decided to organize
a series of workshops to sensitize health administrators, surgeons,
medical scholars and patients about the centuries old Kashar-Sutra
therapy to cure ano-rectal disorders. The first workshop will
be held in Mohali on June 28.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesman said that this
therapy was already been used by the allopathic doctors and surgeons
of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMER), AIIMS New Delhi
and PGIMER, Chandigarh for management of Fistula-in-ano and found
it 14% more effective than classical surgery with minimal/negligible
post-operative complications. The spokesman said that it has been
decided to popularize this ancient method of treatment to benefit
larger strata of population living in remote rural areas.
It is noteworthy that some prestigious hospitals in the country
including Vardha Medical College, J.J. Hospital Mumbai, Apollo
Hospital New Delhi have established separate Kashar Sutra treatment
units. Kashar-sutra was presently also being practiced in various
countries including Japan, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
Describing the strategy to take the benefits of this therapy
to the maximum people, the spokesman said that AIIMS New Delhi
has agreed to compile total data in this therapy at national level
through Internet and various centers can get registered with AIIMS
for this purpose.
It may be added that the department had already held workshops
on the theme of Homoeopathy for mother and child health, yoga
for mental health, Unani medicine for skin, Ayurveda for Geriatric
care and quality assurance of Ayush Drugs.

Sukhbir Badal also hails landslide victory in Bathinda MC Elections

The Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today described
the sweeping victory of SAD-BJP alliance in the Bathinda Municipal
Corporation election as a "forceful mandate for peace and
development in the state."
In a statement here, Mr.Badal also thanked the people of Bathinda
city for their overwhelming support for the policies and programmes
of the ruling alliance.
Mr. Badal resolved that the Government was committed for the
all-round development of Bathinda and would strive towards putting
Bathinda on the international map through world-class infrastructure
and industrial development.
The Chief Minister reiterated his government's commitment to
serve the people with even greater resolve and stated that the
government
would work towards the overall development of Bathinda.
He especially congratulated and thanked the workers and leaders
of
the SAD-BJP alliance for converting the peoples support into concrete
results. He said that the fact that the Congress could win only

seats out of the 50 seats was itself a proof that the Party had
been
totally isolated from the people.
It may be added that the SAD-BJP Alliance was able to secure
three-fourths victory by winning 38 of the total 50 wards, with
Congress winning in only 6 seats.
Meanwhile Member Parliament & Shiromani Akali Dal President
Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal also hailed the landslide victory of SAD-BJP
Alliance in the Bathinda Municipal Corporation Election. He termed
the people's mandate as a testimony to their unflinching trust
and confidence in the polices and programmes of the SAD-BJP Government.
He also congratulated the leaders and workers of SAD as well as
BJP for this superb victory. He stated that the crushing defeat
of the congress party in these elections was a pointer towards
its complete isolation and rejection in the political circle of
Punjab.
