The Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today described
the sweeping victory of SAD-BJP alliance in the Bathinda Municipal
Corporation election as a "forceful mandate for peace and
development in the state."
In a statement here, Mr.Badal also thanked the people of Bathinda
city for their overwhelming support for the policies and programmes
of the ruling alliance.
He especially congratulated and thanked the workers and leaders
of the SAD-BJP alliance for converting the peoples support into
concrete
results. He said that the fact that the congress could win only
6seats out of the 50 seats was itself a proof that the Party had
been
totally isolated from the people.
It may be pointed out that SAD-BJP alliance won 38 seats out
of 50 whereas 6 seats went to Independents.
The Chief Minister reiterated his government's commitment to
serve the people with even greater resolve and stated that the
government
would work towards the overall development of Bathinda and bring
the
city on the International map.
