Mr. Tikshan Sud Medical Education and Research Minister today
issued direction to all Principals and staff of all Government
and Private Medical, Dental, Ayurvedic, Homeopathy, Para medical
and nursing colleges to immediately expel the students found indulging
in the practice of ragging.
In a communiqué addressed to Vice Chancellor Baba Farid
University of Medical Sciences, Director Medical Education &
Research, Director Ayush and Principals of Medical Colleges, since
the new session in all the Medical Institutions is about to commence,
there is greater need for the authorities of the institutions
to keep a strict vigil on the activities of students to check
the practice of ragging of newcomers.
The Minister said that any laxity shown by management, administration,
Principal, faculty or staff in implementing the guidelines of
the Apex Court, would be treated very seriously and would invite
stern disciplinary action. He reiterated that management, principal
and staff to take effective steps to ensure that no new student
becomes victim of this wrong practice of ragging.
Making it imperative for the management to implement the latest
guidelines of Supreme Court of India, the Minister said that the
every Institute was required to nominate Medical Superintendent
as nodal officer to check ragging. He said that old and senior
students and their parents have already been notified regarding
new directions of Supreme Court regarding ragging. He said that
latest guidelines of Supreme Court on ragging have already been
included in the prospectus and new students were informed about
these guidelines at the time of counseling..
Calling upon the Principals to remain constantly vigilant against
this practice and monitor the situation on day to day basis, he
said that principal and staff must watch the attitude of new comers
and any sign of depression noticed in new student should be probed
deeply. He also called upon new students to fearlessly report
any incident of ragging coming to their notice to authorities
as their identity would be kept secret.
Making an impassioned appeal to the senior students to welcome
the new students with love instead of ragging them, he said that
junior students expect senior students to depict leadership qualities
in such situations.
BHAGAT AND JAIN APPOINTED AS CHAIRMAN
AND VICE CHAIRMAN OF INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT BOARD

Mr. Mahinder Bhagat and Mr. Vinod Jain today assumed the charge
of their offices as Chairman Medium Scale Industry Development
Board and as Vice Chairman, Medium Scale Industry Development
Board respectively in the presence of Mr. Manoranjan Kalia, Industry
and Commerce Minister Punjab in Udyog Bhawan Chandigarh.
While addressing media persons Mr. Kalia Said that the Chairman
of the Small & Medium Scale Industry Development Board would
have the rank of cabinet minister while the vice chairman would
be in the rank of Minister of State. He further said that the
government has constituted four Boards, Small Scale Industry Development
Board, Medium Scale Industry Development Board, Large Scale Industry
Development Board, Infrastructure Development Council.
Mr. ParkaMr. Singh Badal, Chief Minister, Punjab and Mr. Manoranjan
Kalia, Industries and Commerce Minister will be the Chairman and
Vice Chairman of the Infrastructure Development Council and Large
Scale Industry Development Board.
Mr. Kalia further informed that the Board shall interact with
representatives of Industries, Banks, Financial Institutions and
officials of the State Government and make its recommendations
from time to time to the State Government for the revival of industrial
economy and rehabilitation of the existing sick units and also
advice on development of industries, betterment of investment
scenario and related infrastructure to the State Government. He
also informed that the Board will meet at least once in three
months.

''Career for a teacher
in Europe" an International Seminar by Aryans Group

Aryans Group of Institutes, Chandigarh in association with London
School of Management Education (LSME), London is organizing a
seminar on "Career for a Teacher in Europe" at ICSSR
Complex, Punjab University, Chandigarh on 22nd July'08 from 10AM
onwards. Prof. Pandit Palande, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Yashwantrao
Chawan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), Nasik would be the
chief guest in the seminar. A team of experts from London have
already arrived at Chandigarh which includes Dr. Rabindra Kumar,

David, Head, Lifelong Learning Courses, UK. The seminar would
be presided over by Mr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group

Learning that equips managers, tutors, teachers and trainers with

Giving information to the media, Mr. Anshu Kataria, Chairperson,
Aryans Group of Institutes, said that here in India lot many students
are holding Teachers Education (i.e. Bachelor of Education/ Maters
of Education) certificates and degrees but are still either unemployed
or are employed at a very low salary. But this is not the scenario
in UK and Europe. In these countries, the demand for B.Ed/ M.ed
degree holders is very high due to the shortage of the teaching
manpower. He said that when the skills of the Indian candidates
will be combined with the LL modern action based training, excellence
in teaching & training capability will be achieved leading
to their successful careers. He further added that this collaboration
will give such candidates an opportunity to work as a teacher
or lecturer in UK or Europe.

Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, Member Parliament and President Shiromani
Akali Dal, visited Udyog Bhawan on the occasion of installation
of new members of Industry Development Board. Mr. Inderjit Singh
Pradhan as Chairman of Small Scale Industry Development Board
and Mr. Satish Kumar Dhanda, Vice Chairman of the Medium Scale
Industry Development Board assumed their office. At the function
Mr.S.S.Channy, IAS, Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce,
Punjab, Dr.G.Vajralingam, IAS, Managing Director, Punjab Financial
Corporation, Mr. Dharam Dutt Tarnach, Additional Managing Director,
PSIEC, a large number of industrialists from Ludhiana and other
officials of the Government, Corporations were also present on
this occasion.
