BADAL, MANPREET, MAJITHIA ATTENDS CREMATION OF GURDEV
SINGH BAINS
Chandigarh February 21:
Mortal remains of Mr. Gurdev Singh Bains, the elder brother of
Media Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister, Mr. Harcharan Bains, were
consigned to the flames here today at sector 25 cremation grounds.
Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal along with Finance
Minister Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal and Information & Public
Relations Minister, Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia placed wreaths on
the body of Mr. Gurdev Singh Bains.
It may be recalled that late Mr.Gurdev Singh Bains popularly known
as 'Zaildar' was also a renowned footballer of his times and a
die-hard loyalist of Mr.Parkash Singh Badal and Mr.Sukhbir Singh
Badal, who had worked shoulder to shoulder with Mr. Bains during
the last assembly elections.
Meanwhile, Mr. Harcharan Bains lit the pyre and a pall of gloom
descended at the site. The Chief Minister expressed his heartfelt
sympathies with the inconsolable members of the bereaved family
and prayed to Almighty to give strength and courage to bear this
irreparable loss and grant peace to the departed soul.
Prominent amongst other who also placed wreaths on the body included
State Chief Secretary Mr. RI Singh, Principal Secretary Information
& Public Relations and Transport Mr. DS Jaspal, Financial
Commissioner Excise & Taxation Mr. SS Brar, Director General
of Police Mr. NPS Aulakh and Director Information & Public
Relations Mr. Tejveer Singh.
Eminent personalities from different walks of life including
Journalists, Lawyers, Doctors and senior officers of Civil and
Police Administration besides the leaders & workers of Shiromani
Akali Dal and Bhartiya Janta Party and Members of Shiromani Gurdwara
Parbandhak Committee attended the cremation.
UPINDERJIT KAUR CONDOLES THE DEATH OF GURDEV SINGH BAINS

Education Minister Punjab Dr Upinderjit Kaur today expressed
deep sorrow and grief at the untimely death of Mr. Gurdev Singh
Bains, elder brother of Mr. Harcharan Bains, Media Advisor to
Chief Minister Punjab, who was a renowned footballer of his times.
In a condolence message the Education Minister described him
a precursor in establishing the popularity of football game in
the villages of Doaba region. She said that with his death, the
state has been devoid of the services of an amateur footballer
whose contribution in the field of sports would be remembered.
The Education Minister also expressed his heart felt sympathies
with the members of the bereaved family and prayed to the Almighty
to give strength to bear this irreparable loss and grant peace
to the departed soul.
