TIKSHAN SUD DEMANDS IMMEDIATE CUT IN PETROL,
DIESEL PRICES
CHANDIGARH, DECEMBER 19, 2008
Senior BJP leader and Punjab's Medical Education Minister Mr. Tikshan
Sud today demanded immediate reduction in sale price of Petrol,
Diesel and LPG inline with crude dropping from $ 147 to $ 36 per
barrel in international market and demanded a white paper on dubious
role played by UPA government in 'price management' of petro products
to benefit few chosen.
In a statement issued here today Mr. Sud said that crude prices
have dropped 80 percent during last one month but government has
tried to hoodwink the masses by announcing a meager 10 percent cut
in petrol prices and 7 percent in diesel, giving a free hand to
the multi-national oil companies to loot the people and fill up
their coffers. He said that UPA Government in collusion with multi
national companies was deliberately delaying further cut in petrol
prices because delay of every day results in profit of thousands
of crore for these oil companies .
Mr. Sud said that open loot by oil companies should not be allowed
and people of India should get benefit of drop of crude price in
international market. He said that to further stop this loot, there
should a transparent price fixing mechanism devoid of any government
control.
Terming the drop in inflation as being claimed by the government
as a 'mirage' Mr. Sud said that inflation has only dropped because
of fall in price of Aviation Turbine Fuel and Manufactured Goods
and all essential items including food items have become dearer
instead of becoming cheaper. He said that inflation fall should
be in consonance with drop in prices of essential goods be used
by ordinary masses.
The BJP leader demanded immediate cut in petro prices to give
relief to ordinary masses already reeling under the impact of ever
rising prices of essential goods
