AMARIDNER'S ASSAULT ON STUDENTS BODY SHOWS HE NOW KNOWS HIS TRUE
STATURE: SOI
Chandigarh August 27 – The Students Organisation of India
(SOI) today described as "amusing" former Punjab Chief
Minister Captain Amaridner Singh's virulent attack on the orgnisation
in which the latter had accused the students body of preparing
to "receive training in booth capturing from Bihar and West
Bengal."
In a statment here, the SOI president Mr. Gurpreet Singh Raju
Khanna said that Captain's direct engagment in a verbal duel with
a student body shoed that that the former Chief Minister had finally
become aware of his dwarfed political stature in state poltiics.
"Clearly, Captain Amarinder Singh has now realised that he
lacks the stature to engage in political battles with outstanding
SAD leaders like Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal and Akali
chief Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Therefore, he has to remain content with staisfying his political
insitincts by launching ill-founded attacks on the students organisation."
Mr. Raju Khanna said that Captain had always survived on publicity
gimmicks like road shows, Vikas Yatras etc. The results of the
February 2007 Vidhan Sabha elections, which had coemk immeidiately
after the much publicised Vikas Yatra of Captain Singh, had clearly
showed how seriously people took such tamashas. His much touted
Yatra of yesterday was no exception and will meet the same fate.
"It is amazing that a person who had once been the Chief
Minister of Punjab was so full glee to see a few thousnads worth
of gathering from at least eight constiuencies. When Mr. Sukhbir
Singh Badal organises any publc meeting, he attracts this much
crowd from a single constiuency.
In fact, the SOI itself has organised bigger shows than the one
organised by at least eight former and present legislators, aprt
from other Congress leaders. This showed that not only Amaridner
but the entire Congress party was content with a petty gathering
which even according to Congress spokesperson, did not exceed
ten thousand on stretch of more thanone hundred Kilometers. That
actually translates into less than 100 persons per kilometer.
If the Captain wants to pat himself on the back for such measely
support, we can only be amused.
But would he please stop his desperate attempts to malign a committed
students body like the SOI?" said Mr. Raju Khanna.
