RS. 1 LAC EX-GRATIA TO THE NEXT KIN OF THE DECEASED

Punjab Chief Minister, S. Parkash Singh Badal today expressed
deep sorrow at the unfortunate tragedy in which over a hundred
persons were reportedly killed near the historic Mata Naina Devi
shrine in Himachal Pradesh. He also conveyed his heartfelt condolences
to the members of the bereaved families. The Chief Minister also
announced an ex-gratia grant of Rs. 1 lac to the next kin of the
deceased and free medical aid to the injured devotees.
According to CM's Media Advisor, Mr. Harcharan Bains, immediately
on receipt of information of the incident, the Chief Minister
spoke to the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Mr. PK Dhumal and
offered all possible assistance. He further directed the Deputy
Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police, Ropar to reach
Anandpur Sahib along with teams of doctors and paramedics to provide
immediate first aid to the injured. Chief Minister has also ordered
the district administration to make proper arrangements to send
the bodies at their native places. Mr. Badal would also visit
at the incident site and meet the injured devotees admitted in
the hospitals.
Till reports last received, more than 100 bodies and around 20
injured persons had been brought to Anandpur Sahib and Nangal
Civil hospitals, which are located at a distance of around 20
kms from Naina Devi shrine. The DC and SSP along with Civil Surgeon
of the district were camping at Anandpur Sahib to supervise local
arrangements, he added.
Meanwhile Local Government, Industries and Commerce Minister
Mr. Manoranjan Kalia and Information and Public Relations Minister
Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia also expressed their shock at the tragedy.
SAD President and Lok Sabha MP Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal also joined
others in conveying his condolences to the members of the deceased
families.

Shiromani Akali Dal President and Lok Sabha Member Mr. Sukhbir
Singh Badal expressed profound grief over tragic incident which
occurred at Mata Naina Devi Shrine in Himachal Pradesh early this
morning in which 100 devotees died and more than 200 others injured
following a stampede.
Mr. Badal also expressed his heart felt sympathies with the members
of the deceased families and prayed to the Almighty to give strength
to bear this irreparable loss and grant peace to the departed
souls.
On the directions of SAD President Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, hundreds
of youth Akali Dal workers has already rushed at the Anandpur
Sahib and Nangal Civil hospitals to render all possible help as
well as blood donation also.
CM Badal "risks" life to attend
Ishmeet's Bhog

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today attended the
Bhog ceremony of Punjab's singing sensation late Ishmeet Singh
at Ludhiana at "risk to his personal safety".
According to CM's Media Advisor Harcharan Bains, the Chief Minister
was on his way from Delhi to Ludhiana this morning but was unable
to land at Ludhiana due to inclement weather and had to return
to Chandigarh. Against professional advice, the Chief Minister
again flew to Ludhiana to join the people in paying their respects
at the Bhog of late Ishmeet Singh. Later in the Bhog ceremony,
the Chief Minister said that Ishmeet's loss was a personal tragedy
for him and he was satisfied that despite bad weather he could
join the family in their grief today.

Announced International
level Music Academy at Ludhiana in the memory of Ishmeet Singh
Ludhiana August 3-
As a tribute to Master Ishmeet Singh, winner of Voice of India
on his Antim Ardas and Shardhanjali Samaroah today, Punjab Chief
Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal announced that a befitting memorial
in his memory in the shape of an International level Music Academy
will be set up at Ludhiana. He also announced to rename the link
road from Pakhowal road to Gill road in Ludhiana as Ishmeet Singh
Marg and a financial assistance of Rs 11 lakh for the family.
Mr. Badal assured that he would write to the Prime Minister
and Home Minister of India to take up the issue of holding high
level inquiry to ascertain the cause of death of Ishmeet Singh
with Maldives government.
Paying his rich tributes, Mr. Badal said that Kaka Ishmeet had
achieved enormous success in the world of music and signing during
a short period of one year and won the hearts of all the countrymen
with his enormous talent. He said that Ishmeet had remained committed
to his religion and his stuck to Sikhi look even in the most fascinating
world of film industry. He said that Ishmeet had brought unmatched
honor, not only to the family, but to the entire Sikh community,
state and the country.
Expressing his deep sympathies with his parents, Chief Minister
said that knowing about the death of Ishmeet, he met with a great
shock and till today could not recover from that. He said that
the family of Ishmeet was the honor of whole state and the state
government would accord full respect to them. He also offered
a suitable job to any member of the family, if they desired.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister presented two paintings
of Ishmeet prepared by painters Mr. Rajinder Venus and Mr. Ashok
of Ramgarhia girls College to his father.
Paying his tributes, Mr. Avtar Singh President SGPC said that
with the demise of Ishmeet, an irreparable loss has been caused
to Punjab and particularly to the Sikhs, as he kept himself fully
struck to the Sikhi tenants. He also announced a financial assistance
of Rs 11 lakh to the family and setting up of an annual music
award of Rs. 1.51 lakh in his memory by the SGPC. He also added
that an International Institution to impart training of music
will be set up by SGPC in the State.

of Rs 5 lakh for the family and institution of an annual award
of Rs 1 lakh in his name.
