BADAL REVIEWS DEVELOPMENT
PROJECTS WORTH RS. 105 CRORE
FOR SRI ANANDPUR SAHIB

Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today asked the
Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd.-a wing of ILFS to
coordinate with the senior officers of the different departments
of the state government to ensure timely implementation of development
projects to be initiated in and around the holy city of Sri Anandpur
Sahib as a part of commemoration of Tercentenary celebration of
Guruta Gaddi Divas of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
Presiding over a high level meeting of the officers of the state
and the district administration, Mr. Badal mentioned that the
concerted efforts of the SAD-BJP Government had resulted in securing
a grant of Rs.105.13 crore for the overall development of Sri
Anandpur Sahib. He announced to setup a committee comprising local
MLA Sant Baba Ajit Singh, consultant for the development works
Lt. General (Retd.) B.S. Dhaliwal, President Local Municipal Committee
S. Ram Singh and Deputy Commissioner Roop Nagar Mr. B. Purushartha
for the implementation of these projects.
Mr. Badal asked the Chief Engineer Water Supply & Sanitation
Mr. Arvinder Singh to conduct a fresh survey for the provision
of potable drinking water facility in the town within a fortnight.
The Chief Engineer assured Mr. Badal that the entire programme
for water supply including in the left out areas at a cost of
Rs. 5.81 crore would be implemented with in next six months. Likewise
sewerage & Sanitation programme would also be implemented
at a cost of Rs. 9.68 crore. The Chief Minister also directed
the Chief Engineer drainage of irrigation department to accomplish
the task of storm water drain at an investment of Rs. 4.44 crore
including the construction of check dams (Bandh) to protect low
lying areas. Solid Waste Management would entail an expenditure
of Rs. 6 crore including development of landfill site, installation
of covered garbage dust bins and waster carrying vehicle.
The Chief Minister directed the Chief Engineer PWD (B&R)
to undertake the widening and strengthening of internal roads
within town at a cost of Rs. 2 crore including the roads under
Municipal Council. Apart from this the road network programme
would also include the strengthening of road from Anandpur Sahib
to Dashmesh Academy and a construction of road along Nangal Hydel
channel from Sri Anandpur Sahib to Sri Kiratpur Sahib in the first
phase at a cost Rs. 1.20 crore and from Kiratpur Sahib to Roop
Nagar under the second phase to decongest the vehicular traffic
and to provide an alternate route to the devotees especially during
the festivals of Hola Mohalla and Baisakhi. Similarly, the Chief
Engineer (electrical) of PWD (B&R) had been asked to install
the most modern street lighting system to add the ambiance of
the Holy City.
Mr. Badal directed the Chief Architect Punjab, Mrs. B.K. Saini
to prepare a comprehensive building plan of all the proposed buildings
in the historic town of Sri Anandpur Sahib with a dome shape structures
to give a distinct identity with elements of aura of serenity
and architectural grandeur.
The Chief Minister also announced to have the fire fighting
service in the town and an allocation of Rs. 1 crore had been
made as a part of the development projects. As a part of the upgradation
of infrastructure of the town the Chief Minister also reviewed
other infrastructure projects of Rs.56.8 crore that mainly consisted
of construction of Government Senior Secondary School (Rs. 5 crore),
completion of ITI building for girls (Rs. 4 crore), polytechnic
college (Rs. 17 crore), sports stadium at Charan Ganga (Rs. 1.80
crore), community centre (Rs. 2 crore), construction of new bus
stand (Rs. 18 crore), utilization of old bus stand into commercial
& multilevel parking (Rs. 6 crore), white painting and lighting
of religious placed (Rs. 3 crore) .
Prominent among others who were present on the occasion included
MLA Anandpur Sahib, Sant Baba Ajit Singh, Media Advisor Harcharn
Bains and Additional Principal Secretary Gagandeep Singh Brar
besides the officers of District Administration of Roop Nagar.

PEOPLE ON BAISAKHI
CHANDIGARH APRIL 13, 2008
Punjab Chief Minister Mr.Parkash Singh Badal today felicitated
the people of Punjab on the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi, symbolizing
the spirit of Punjab, Punjabi & Punjabiat.
In a message on the eve of Baisakhi, Mr.Badal reminded the people
of our centuries old glorious past and said that on this sacred
day in 1699 Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji - the Tenth Master of the
Sikhs created 'Order of Khalsa' at the holy city of Sri Anandpur
Sahib by baptizing 'Panj Pyaras (beloved ones) belonging to different
regions and religions thereby carving out a casteless society
and preaching the gospels of love and compassion for mankind,
universal brotherhood and communal harmony.
The Chief Minister also said that this festival marks the beginning
of the harvest season and ripening of Rabi crops. The farmers
of the state gather the fruits of toil and rejoice over their
prosperous future.
On the occasion, Mr.Badal called upon the people to celebrate
this joyous festival in unison with traditional fervour and gaiety
to strengthen the secular and social fabric of our country.

PEOPLE ON RAM NAUMI
CHANDIGARH APRIL 13, 2008
Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today extended
his warm greetings to the people of Punjab on the auspicious occasion
of 'Ram Naumi, the birthday of Lord Rama.
In his message, Mr.Badal said that this sacred day symbolizes
the unity of mankind and brotherhood besides moral and spiritual
values preached by Lord Rama (Maryada Purshotam). Mr.Badal said
that Lord Rama showed us the path of ideal and virtuous living
to carve out a prosperous and harmonious society. The Chief Minister
called upon the people to follow the teachings of Lord Rama in
true spirit, which were still relevant in the present materialistic
society besides redeeming the mankind from the yoke of evils.
He said; 'such pious occasions not only promote a sense of communal
harmony and mutual understanding amongst the people but also showers
joy and prosperity on them'.
Mr.Badal appealed the people to celebrate this sacred day collectively
rising above the parochial considerations of caste, colour, creed
and religion.
KALIA EXTENDS WARM GREETINGS ON
THE SACRED OCCASION OF BAISAKHI
Chandigarh APRIL 13 Extending warm greetings on the sacred occasion
of Baisakhi , Mr Manoranjan Kalia Industries Minister Punjab,said
the Tenth Master Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji created a castless
society, with the creation of the Khalsa at the holi city of Sri
Anandpur Sahib by Baptising 'Panj Payars' [beloved ones].
Mr Kalia said Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, moulded the Sikhs through
the sacramentof the Nector [Amrit} into saint soldier for upholding
the values of Dharma ,Humanism and Secularism.
He called upon the people to follow the sacred teachings and
precious legacy of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Tenth Guru and
a Spiritual ambassador.
