molestation case - Two NRI women molested |
Two
NRI women, natives of Gujarat currently staying in California,
were molested by a mob of over 70 men as they came out of
the hotel where a New Year special dance show by actor Bipasha
Basu was held.

- Mumbai, January 6, 2008:
Renuka Chowdhary, Union Women and Child Development Minister
will review the report of NRI molestation case occured on
New Year Day Two photojournalists, who had
taken photographs of the accused and Amarjeet Singh, Assistant
Commissioner of Police who had reached the spot at that
time, had identified 14 people accused of being involved
in the incident
- Mumbai, January 6, 2008:
National
daily newspaper's two photographers identified the
14 men accused of molesting two NRI women on New Year's
Eve. The suspects were paraded in front of the two photographers
in Arthur Road Jail for the identification process.

men arrested will be put through an identification parade
here today.

Maharashtra Government told
Bombay High Court for setting up a fast-track court- RR
Patil, Deputy Chief Minister said, "We have got nearly
all the accused in the case. It is high time that they are
punished strictly and without wasting any time.We will also
be writing to the Centre for making provisions in the law
to enhance punishment for such offences."
- Mumbai, January 5, 2008: All
the 14 accused, arrested persons, bailed by furnishing a
surety of Rs 10,000 each - The
arrested persons were- Dinesh Bagaitkar, Sudhir Naikwade,
Kunal Jadhav, Shobby D'Souza, Ajay Marathe, Vaibhav Marathe,
Sandip Panchal, Manoj Panchal, Sandip Shukla, Derek Jadhav,
Swapnil Mandare, Siddharth Singh, Amit Kapoor and Ravindra
Shukla. Magistrate Madhav Bondre granted bail to all 14
persons on furnishing a surety of Rs 10,000. Nagesh Joshi,
Defence lawyer said the arrested persons were not hardened
criminals and were ready to co-operate with the police investigations.
The prosecution asked for judicial custody as the identification
parade by the witnesses was yet to be conducted.

Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) told reporters here
that 14 people were arrested on Thursday in connection with
the molestation of two NRI women outside a five star hotel
on the New Year day. One of them surrendered following the
repeated coverage received by the case in the media while
the rest 13 were arrested from suburban Vile Parle on the
