Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal announced to establish
11 member-advisory-committee to aid and advise the government
on the issues relating to NRI problems
7-8 members would be taken from NRIs worldwide- from countries
having a fairly large population of Punjabis and including senior
civil servants from our Govt. This committee will give suggestions
and recommendations to the government for pending cases of property,
matrimonial and other disputes.
To communicate with NRIs, Mr. Badal said NRI sammelan be held
twice a year, one in India and other in abroad. This will incude
four segments - US, Canada, Europe Australia and the Gulf
For giving answers to NRIs, on lifting the travel ban on Sikhs
blacklisted after 1984, Badal said he could not do much in the
matter but assured to take up the matter with the union home minister.
