The Himachal Pradesh government was considering a
proposal to set up an NRI town with modern airport
to attract international tourists to the state, Chief
Minister Virbhadra Singh said today.
''The government will develop the NRI town and upgrading
the airport to international standards to increase
the flow of international tourists to the state,''
he said, while interacting with a foreign delegation
from Switzerland, here.
Mr. Singh said the state government was considering
a proposal to develop a NRI township and a modern
airport with all the facilities to promote tourism
in Kangra, Chamba and Una districts of the state.
Consul General of Switzerland Josef W Eisele, who
was leading the delegation, said that several Switzerland
companies were interested in investing in the state
since they had the same climate and topography.
These companies apart from creating jobs for the
local people would also attract international tourists
to the state, he added.
Several senior state government officials were also
present on the occasion.
