A 1969 batch Karnataka cadre officer of the Indian
Administrative Service, Mr. S Krishna Kumar, has been named new secretary
in the ministry of non-resident Indian affairs.
Krishna Kumar is presently the additional chief secretary
of Karnataka and principal secretary to the state government's Infrastructure
Development Department.
JC Sharma, the previous secretary, was an officer of
Indian Foreign Service, who retired recently.
Krishna Kumar's appointment comes at a time when the
central government is finalising the brief for the NRI affairs ministry,
established for the first time by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
