Happy Vaisakhi

Come one come all for this special program "World Turban Day" on Thursday, April 12, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm, at Gurdwara Sahib in Palatine as a part of our regular Thursdays youth program. We will have volunteers to teach kids, youth & adults who want to learn how to tie a turban. Please bring your turbans with you & volunteers will help you learn how to wrap a turban.

We encourage everyone who normally doesn't wear turban to wear turbans on Thursday April 12 through Sunday April 15 to show our respect to Guru Sahib's commandment.

All Sikh Youth of Chicago Metropolitan area are invited to come to Gurdwara Sahib in Palatine every Thursday for this youth program. This program is being run by the Sikh Youth of Chicago.

We would encourage the parents to come and witness it and also bring their children along to participate in it. We have received a very positive feed back from the children who regularly attend it. Our goal is to have every child & youth in our community to be part of this program. We also need more volunteers, organizers & participants.

This month's theme is Vaisakhi. We will celebrate Vaisakhi & discuss the reasons why we celebrate Vaisakhi and the birth of the Khalsa. We will show a 10 minutes video clip from Sikh history. We will recite Rehraas, Keertan, Katha & have discussions with the children about current events. We will continue to improve as we go along. Your suggestions are welcome.

This week we have planned to wear a Royal Blue or an Orange colored piece of garment to rise in Sikhi Spirit.

There will be a test for the Kids & youth about Gurbani, Japuji Sahib, ten Guru's names, Panj Piarey, four Sahibjadeys of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. It will be on Friday April 13 & Saturday April 14, 4:00 pm -6:00 p.m.
Please come one come all to join us for this special program.

There will be special diwan (congregation) at Palatine Gurudwara sahib this Saturday, April 14th, 6pm~7pm to celebrate “Vaisakhi”

Vaisakhi festival is the celebration of ending of harvest season, and beginning of a new cycle. It’s a symbol of renewal. For Sikhs the day has another significance that in 1699 their tenth Guru Gobind Singh founded the Khalsa order.
