`Slumdog
Millionaire' wins BAFTA Awards as best film

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (Bafta)
awards 2009 ceremony had taken place at The Royal Opera House in
London, on Sunday night and Slumdog Millionaire had won seven awards
including:
- Best Film- Danny Boyle
- Best Director- Danny Boyle
- Best Adapted Screenplay-Simon Beaufoy
- Best Music- AR Rahman
- Best Editing (Chris Dickens),
- Best Sound- Resul Pookutty, Glen Freemantle, Richard Pryke,
Tom Sayers, Ian Tapp)
- Best Cinematography-Anthony Dod Mantle
Danny Boyle, when named best director for Slumdog Millionaire,
he said he revealed that at one point he thought the movie was going
"straight to DVD".
Slumdog Millionaire swept the Golden Globes, recently won a top
Screen Actors Guild Award, as well as the Producers Guild of America
prize.
Danny Boyle also won the Directors Guild of America Award, nominated
for 10 Academy Awards and is considered the odds-on favorite to
win the best film Oscar
The Wrestler star Mickey Rourke took home the best actor trophy.Kate
Winslet for her roles in Revolutionary Road and The Reader won the
Leading Actress category
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts referred
to as "BAFTA" has worked hard to fulfill its charitable
remit by identifying excellence, inspiring practitioners and benefiting
the public since November 04, 1947.
BAFTA continues to embrace the ever-changing worlds
of Film, TV and Games.
