- New Delhi, Oct 9, 2007: The Indian stock market boom has
made the Ambani brothers arguably the richest in the world
if one clubs the fortunes of Mukesh and Anil, which at USD
91.41 billion is far ahead of even the Walton family of
Wal-Mart.
- Overseas Indians have an estimated US$1 trillion in assets,
and wealth managers in Singapore, Dubai, Hong Kong and elsewhere
have been stepping up efforts to help manage it.
- New7Wonders, the
nonprofit organization conducted the poll that 100 million
votes were cast through the Internet and cellphone text
messages- The Great Wall of China, Rome's Colosseum, India's
Taj Mahal and three architectural marvels from Latin America
were among the new seven wonders of the world
- In 2005, $24 billion came into the country as remittances,
out of which nearly 45 per cent was from the Gulf countries.
Indians in the US have so far invested $5.2 billions in
India.
